After a long hiatus, the Langara Rotaract website has gotten a slight facelift. You will notice the new Rotaract logo in the header. Last year Rotaract turned 40! Congratulations Rotaract! Here's to another 40 years of helping people.

Along with the New Year comes resolutions and one resolution that Rob the webmaster has made is to keep langararotaract.com more up to date than it has been this past year.

So check back often as we will have many more updates to come.

One very exciting thing to note is that the Aid In India Water Project has been completed.

The "Shake your Buddha" fundraiser on April 26th was a smashing success! We had an amazing turnout and raised a whopping $1400 towards our Buddha Academy project. A big thanks to all that helped out for this great project.

SHAKE YOUR BUDDHA

The 1st Annual Rotaract BC Roundtrip took place May 11-21, 2007 and brought five Rotaractors from different countries to our beautiful province. Our guests included Francis from Phillipines, Naohiro from Japan, Tamara from Croatia, Hussam from Italy and Maricela from Mexico. They were all a delight to meet and we all had a great time with them. A special thanks to Gelati Ting from Richmond Rotaract and our very own Katie Stewart, who developed this exciting program and worked long and hard to
ensure the visitors had a great trip. A huge thanks also to members from our club and from participating clubs who supported the roundtrip by helping out and participating in events.

This Roundtrip was the first of its kind in BC and possibly all of Canada. We can all be proud of this accomplishment.

Ishwarya Chaitanya was awarded the prestigious Paul Harris Fellowship by the Rotary Club of Vancouver Arbutus on March 5, 2007. The award was presented to Ishwarya for her outstanding efforts with the Rotaract and Interact organizations over the past many years. Congratulations Ish!!!

Langara Rotaract completed a two day seminar entitled Toxic Smart in March. The program is geared to making people more aware of the kinds of cleaning products are in our houses and how our cleaning practices might be having a negative impact on our environment. The course can now also be taught by the members who attended the seminar. Thanks to Christianne Wilhelmson from the Georgia Straight Alliance for teaching such an informative seminar!

Many of our members helped out at the
2007 Nepali Film Festival on Sunday, April 1, 2007. The event was a success and Langara Rotaract was able to raise awareness for Langara Rotaract and for the Buddha Academy project we are working on.
